Prepare for an all-singing, all-dancing journey to the bottom of the sea when the Broadway Bound Vista Theatre Project (BBVTP) presents The SpongeBob Musical July 23-26 in the Cardinal Newman School Performing Arts Center.

When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save their undersea world. With lives hanging in the balance and all hope lost, a most unexpected hero rises up, proving that the power of optimism really can save the world! The SpongeBob Musical, based on the beloved animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg, features irresistible characters and magical music, and is sure to make a splash with audiences young and old. The future is bright, the future is bold, the future is – The SpongeBob Musical!

A character-driven cartoon produced by Nickelodeon, SpongeBob SquarePants chronicles the nautical and sometimes nonsensical adventures of SpongeBob, an incurably optimist and earnest sea sponge, and his undersea friends. The Broadway production of The SpongeBob Musical earned its place on multiple publications’ “Best of Broadway” lists in 2017, was named Best Musical by the Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle, and earned 12 Tony Award nominations – the most nominated musical of the 2017-2018 theatre season – winning for Best Scenic Design of a Musical. The SpongeBob Musical features a book by Kyle Jarrow; original songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants, and T.I.; songs by David Bowie, Tom Kenny and Andy Paley; additional lyrics by Jonathan Coulton; and additional music by Tom Kitt.

Leading the BBVTP’s cast of talented youth and adults are Mattie Mount as SpongeBob, Shelby Sessler as Sandy Cheeks, Leighton Mount as Patrick Star, Matt Wright as Squidward J. Tentacles, Alyson Leach as Sheldon J. Plankton, Annie Redd as Karen the Computer, Ed Davis as Mr. Krabs and Hannah Mount as Pearl Krabs.  Also among the residents of Bikini Bottoms are Angela Bernardo, Gwen Bernardo, Amanda Britt, Jessica Britt, Brandon Campbell, Zach Cieri, Breana Collier, Chloe Collier, Elijah Collier, Sydney Davis, Cecily Diaz, Josie Hess, Josh Kern, Mason Kingery, Paisley Lyle, Hannah McCloy, Tavi Oliveira, Dianne Palmer-Quay, Saniya Pou, Annabelle Stratton, Nic Stratton and Amy Thomasson.

The SpongeBob Musical is sponsored by Davis Orthodontics and Ken & Cheryl Wheat. The production is directed and choreographed by Dedra Daniels Mount, with musical direction by Michael Simmons and costumes by Shelby Sessler.
